There are new restroom facilities there and a wonderful small lake with a beach. Dense woods close to the trail often hide the fact that much of your ride is through suburbs. You'll cross over another road, under an overpass, and then over an old railroad tressel to continue on to the small village of Lannon. Parking on the west end is on a rural street and the trail head is a bit obscure. It is completely paved and well maintained. The trail intersects Fireman's Park in Merton, and there are plenty of other areas in Sussex and Menomonee Falls to park. There was a sports bar in Merton that was probably a great spot once we finished, but we chose to cool off and drive to downtown Hartland - enjoyed our food at Endters sports bar/restaurant. We just rode the length of the Bugline on Sunday, so there were many people using it, including families. Once again when that trail ended there was no parking lot or even a turn around. The trail is paved, which is wonderful. From there, it would go along Lake Five Road and weave its way down to Pewaukee. It was popular in the late 1800s as a direct link between Waukesha and the Oconomowoc Lake Country, and utilizes the Wisconsin Electric Power Company right-of-way. If there was a downside to our trip it was Sussex. The short spur trail to Menomonee Park just outside of Lannon is well worth the trip. Winnequah Park. The best times to visit this trail are April through October. A look down into the quarries from the trail is an impressive site. The quarries were interesting. There are some longer sections through wooded areas, which are beautiful. Theres really no parking or signage in either place. I don't know why the waste of money on paving instead of putting it into new trails.Paving the trails makes them feel less like you are out in the country.
